The first step to recognizing opportunities is to be open-minded. Remember, anything is possible. When you are open-minded, you are open to the world of infinite possibilities. When you are presented to any opportunity, just hold your skepticism and explore the opportunity with an open mind. Let me repeat, this is the first step to recognizing opportunities. If you are close-minded, you are shutting yourself off the creative nature of the Universe. You see, if you know exactly how to achieve what you want in life, you would have achieved it already. Since you do not know how, why not just let go and let the Universe show you the How. The Universe can only show you How when you are open to new ideas, new concepts and new opportunities. Warning: I'm not asking you to take up every opportunity you can find under the sun. Opportunities cost time and money. Therefore, it is important to know how to evaluate opportunities, which I'll cover in the later part of this article. How opportunities come to you? Opportunities come to you in various forms. You may suddenly get a call from a friend telling you that he has a business opportunity. You may also get an opportunity from the newspapers, radio or internet. Because opportunities usually come from external sources, it is important that you network around, meet more people, read more and surf more. In order to recognize an opportunity, it is vital that you are alert of what is happening to you. Always ask yourself "Why is this thing happening to me? How can I benefit from it?" Be sensitive to your circumstances because they are clues to your success. Your reality is your feedback mechanism. Please burn this into your subconscious mind. One important affirmation you can do is this: "The world is created for me. Everything that happens to me happens for a reason and it happens for my benefits." When your subconscious mind truly believe that everything happens because of you and to your benefit, you will realize that no matter how bad the situation is, you will always benefit from the situation. This is a very powerful affirmation. How to evaluate opportunities? Whenever an opportunity is presented to you, you can ask yourself the following questions. 1. Is this opportunity consistent with what I'm asking? 2. Can it lead me to where I want to be? 3. Is this opportunity something I'm interested in doing? To answer these three questions, first of all, you must have a clear goal of what you want to achieve. If you do not have a clear goal, you will find yourself changing one opportunity after another. Your subconscious mind works for you only when you have a clear goal! If the answers to the questions are positive, then you move on to the next two important tests. The first test is your feeling. Your subconscious mind is your ultimate guide that can tell you whether an opportunity is for you. Trust your own feeling. Do you feel excited over that particular opportunity? Do you feel positive about the opportunity? These are some of the ways through which your subconscious mind communicates to you. The second test is your vision. Have you experienced a situation whereby you are presented to an opportunity and you can immediately see in your mental picture how it is going to happen? Always check your mental picture. The clearer the picture, the better the opportunity is for you.
